The Port Elizabeth Engineering Specialists, Neptune Engineering was founded in 1946 by the late, Arthur Allanson, as a Precision and General Engineering Company and Foundry. It made various parts under license for the tobacco industry together with machined castings for wood working equipment. In the mid 1960’s the foundry was closed and the Company concentrated on the general engineering requirements of the growing industrial market throughout Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage. Under the management of Jim Combley, the Company positioned itself in the market to meet the needs of the light to medium heavy engineering market. The sectors serviced included the chemical, construction and automotive related companies to mention a few. Neptune Engineering continues to specialise in these sectors of the market and pride itself with the quality and quick turnaround in all work undertaken.

Under the leadership of James Combley, the staff complement are fully qualified in their various trades and coded as required. An Apprenticeship program for Welders and Turners is offered where the extensive facilities and expertise provide an environment for the Apprentice to progress in the many skills required in his field of choice. The Business continues to grow and recently enlarged its Fabrication Facilities by 360 m2 and installed a 10 ton gantry crane and enlarged its Plate Rolling capacity with a 25mm x 2600 plate roller.

Neptune Engineering has many service lines and is renowned for its diversity in bending and rolling of plate, pipe and sections. A new line was successfully introduced in late 2015 in which a facility was created to produce segmented screw flights, spirals and ribbon flights.

Neptune Engineering is registered as a Closed Corporation and is BEE compliant.
